![]() As you aim a reticle with one stick, trying to fight the rather floaty swing of it, you’ll also have to keep another eye out for the ball itself, as flying balls wait for no one. The batting cages in Yakuza 0 will have you aim at lit up sections of this board depicting one, two, three or home run(s) and depending on which one you hit with your swing is how far around a hypothetical baseball diamond you get, scoring a point for each full lap, like actual baseball. ![]() Except not out of the park and instead at very specific locations on a giant board. Batting CagesĪt the batting cages you’ll find yourself hounded by baseballs and it’s up to you to knock them out of the park. This is the part where you whisper sweet nothings to your ball to make it knock down all the pins. There’s also the split game to enjoy which is a challenge mode where you’re given a variety of splits (instances where remaining pins are split apart from one another, often leaving a notable gap between them that a conventional bowl would not hit) for you to try and become a true bowling master. There’s also the option to play against the staff which will see you pulling out your hair as you try and launch the ball for strike after strike with maximum weight and speed and falling shy of but a single pin all the while the AI throws the lightest ball at the slowest speed one could muster and somehow knocks down every pin, some of the time. It’s a very simple mini-game that’s mechanically quite simple, although I can’t for the life of me determine the major differences between the light and heavy balls, other than the speed in which your aim and speed meters swing, with the lighter balls being an easier experience. If you feel like you’ve flubbed everything and are about to launch your ball directly into the gutter then you can even add varying amounts of spin in the short amount of wind-up needed to start launching your small boulder towards what you can only hope to be a strike, or the gutter. Close your eyes, hope you got the angle you wanted and prepare yourself to try and now gauge the power of your throw in the next rise and fall meter. ![]() Depending on how heavy a ball you chose the aiming arm will swing wildly back and forth at various speeds. You start by choosing the weight of your ball and your starting location. Or even wear shoes! Classic ten pin bowling can be enjoyed in Kamurocho’s bowling alley and you can either sit yourself down for the hefty ten full frames or for a short and simple three. There’s nothing quite like throwing a heavy rock at ten wooden pins and thankfully you can enjoy such a sensation in Yakuza 0, and you don’t even have to change your shoes. Amazing karaoke dreams, dancing mafiosos and questionable phone calls are just some of the mighty pass times to enjoy, so join me as I try and explain how darts works as if I were an actual human with human thoughts. ![]() A whopping 23, which includes the 4 actual classic Sega arcade games which you can enjoy in full, if you have the patience! Here we look at just an initial 10 that mainly act as the perfect examples for the weird and wacky comedy and tones that the Yakuza series is well known for. By which I mean the rules on the reasonable number of mini-games any single game can contain. ![]()
